I can say, on the backs of many I have arisen through love and support from my family and friends to carry Familyhood this far. Therefore, my travel was not alone. However, now, during this very critical time of school closures and gentrification, a diffferent model for community development that starts and ends with the people in the community controlling their own destiny is the purpose of The Familyhood Handbook. I am not saying that Familyhood has all the answers to all the problems schools/communities, what I do say is that Familyhood is a systemic approach of developing community, for the community.

Since, Familyhood is a community development vision that defines the school’s inter-generational population as the center of the communities development, The Familyhood Handbook is written as a resource guide for interested parties to work together to empower their school and its surrounding community.
